Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
(The picture is linked to the website) Watch the titles  I was told to continue my research on the development of film titles and opening sequences of movies. I was recommended this website and instantly I noticed various movies. When I started watching the videos, I started understanding the art of intros and opening sequences in shows in movies. I watched different opening scenes, varying from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Some of them had actions and finished with a hanger. Others, I am guessing for longer movies had simple openings that had the names of the directors and other people working in production and the guest stars. These type were music based and had no narrations, or talking. There were various types of opening. Since mmy opening for my film will be two minutes, I was looking at two minute opening sequences in my genre. While doing this there were many sci-fi films with outerspace vibes. After going through the website, my knowledge on opening scenes improved.

Why am I on this site? Besides researching the different titles and how the titles are assigned.... I am researching the different titles and how the title are different. When I first got on the site, I did not know what to expect. You can instantly notice an opening for a movie. When I viewd it, it was the opening for, "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?"  As I was researching different titles and how they played a role on the actial movie, I came out with a lot of knowledge that will benifit me when it comes to coming up with a title for my final task. As I was going around the website, I looked over the different sizes, spacing, fonts etc. of each movie. I noticed each have there own design, based on the movie determines the colors, and the theme of the titles. I am starting to work my brain to think of how I would design my own title.  I plan on using the knowledge that I aquired while researching movie titles to use on my title. I feel like the simplistic movie titles are

Genre Research: Outside the wire

Image
In simple terms,  In the near future, a drone pilot sent into a war zone finds himself paired up with a top-secret android officer on a mission to stop a nuclear attack. However, if you want more details of a summary.... "The world’s most sophisticated android was apparently programmed by an intern at Barstool Sports. Perhaps another zero at the end of the movie’s budget or a sharper final draft of the script would have been enough to push “Outside the Wire” into more solid territory, but the gravity of its low-rent approach proves too intense for it to get off the ground....In theory, Harp and Leo make for a compelling duo. The former is a human who thinks like a robot, and the latter is a robot who’s hung up on the heartbeat that he’ll never have. Despite Leo’s penchant for glitching from civil to “King Kong ain’t got nothing on me!” at a moment’s notice, he’s endearingly fond of life’s more analog pleasures. He loves books and maps and vinyl records, and he even has a soft spot

As the various people on board the ISS fight to contain this

Genre Decision Blog

At the end of the day, I feel that because I wanted pitch 1, that I was geared towards a science fiction genre. My film pitch read, "In the near future, a highly skilled drone pilot is sent to a military demilitarized zone on a mission to neutralize forces. During this journey he learns the mindset of the opposition and is stuck between saving his home or doing what he feels is right." I begin to debate with myself over what genre fit this movie idea best. I could not do comedy because a movie that deals with military are not funny. Although this did make sense at first, but I was reminded of a shows called M*A*S*H, which depicts the life of members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital who take care of the wounded during the Korean War and use humor to escape the terror and depression of the moment. Then I thought why not make this a horror film, in theory this movie does depict military zone and some military movies can get quite terrifying. I begin to look into movie

Genre Research: Horror & Drama

Image
After then, I decided to research a few more genres. I reached out to my peers to extend my learning to other genres such as horror and drama. My peer Amira Griffin had previoiusly studied the Drama genre and I begin going through her google slides. Instance in this slide you get a better understanding of  common movements in the Drama Genre such as Panning and tracking.   Once I had gathered a better understanding of the Drama genre, I begin going into depth of the context that was incorporated in this genre. I was invested and then I came across the slide labeled Common Camera Angle. This page read, "Common camera angles in drama films and tv shows are high angles shots and Low angle shots." I realized how that in many drama films, it was common for a low angle. I wanted to introduce myself to one more genre before deciding what my final films genre should be so I reached out to my fellow peer Vanessa, and she let me research her Horror powerpoint. While going through it,

Genre Research: Action

Image
In the begining of the school year, I was researching action blogs. This is the introductory slide of my Action project. In this project I discussed the conventions, sound, common lighting, common camera angle, common movement, Mis-en-scene and many other.  Pictures of the PowerPoint Slides In the firt slide after the introduction slide, I began to explain common lighting in Action films. In action films, directors use different lighting to emphasize the sun, an angle, or a spotlight on a specfic character. In this slide as media I use a take from the Marvels Black Panther, where directors use lighting to replicate the sun above them.  In the third-fifth slide, I go over common camera angles such high angles, long shots,  and canted angle. I use various media example from movies like Marvels Avenger End Game, Venom, and Black Panthers. I continue to talk about Common Movements such as steadicam, panning, Tracking (Dolly cam), zooming, and Crane shots. In addition, I go over the vario

My Pitch

Pitch 1: In the near future, a highly skilled drone pilot is sent to a military demilitarized zone on a mission to neutralize forces. During this journey he learns the mindset of the opposition and is stuck between saving his home or doing what he feels is right. Pitch 2: After civilazation has been threatened by the increase carbon emission, it is up to a successful scientist to come up with an idea fast to prevent mass extenction of humanity.
