Genre Research: Venom

Venom is the 2018 American superhero movie based on Venom's Marvel Comics character. Columbia Pictures created in association with Marvel and Tencent Pictures. Distributed by Sony Pictures, this is the first film in the Sony Pictures Universe with the Marvel Characters. In Venom, journalist Brock gathers strength after being bound to an alien symbiote whose race plans to destroy Earth.

When searching space for new habitable planets, a probe belonging to the bio-engineering company Life Base finds a comet surrounded by symbiotic life forms. It contained four samples, but one of them escapes and lead the ship to crash in Malaysia. The Life Foundation recovers the other three and transfers them to their San Francisco testing lab, where they find that symbiotes cannot live without oxygen-breathing hosts, which also fatally refuse symbiosis.

Investigative writer Eddie Brock learns of these human trials in a classified paper in the hands of his fiancée Anne Weying, a lawyer who prepares a case for the Life Foundation. When he goes to interview the Life Foundation, the symbiote discover that he is the perfect Host, and acts like a parasite. The movie continues as Brock is learning to live with the life form inside him, and in the meantime, they must fight the 4th missing symbiosis, which makes its way to the main setting in San Francisco. (I will leave the ending out in order to reduce any spoilers)

As you can see, the movie is sci-fi packed and very audience grasping which I anticipate that I can mimic in my movie. Some elements of the movie that would be in my movie include self-discovering and probe technology. In my movie, the main character will undergo a journey of self-discovery. He will also be in a futuristic world with probe technology. Likewise, venom is grasping by the summary and I want my audience to feel the same about my movie.

This movie has a lot of elements that I would like to incorporate into my movie, but there are other elements that I simply liked, however couldn't fit in my movie. For example, the alien technology that the movie has. In my movie, all characters will remain human and will not interact with extra-terrestrial. I also love the romance that the movie has between the main character and his fiancé. My main character will not have a known lover.

While there were parts of the movie that I loved, the one part of the movie that I did not like was the CGI, which were off at times. Although the movie had millions of dollars for production, there were many notable CGI mess-ups, and we know that CGI effect is common in this genre. Regardless the movie was amazing.
