Title research: LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS

Lemony Snicket animated title sequence by Jamie Caliri

(LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS from Watchthetitle)

 - What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? In the opening sequence, titles such as the costume designer, Co-Producer and Porducer are among the many names in this 5 minute opening sequence. Many other names in position, alongside the moody, screenplay design.

 - What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? Cemetaries and eyes. In basically every take has a visble eye. I am guesssing it plays a part in the mood the author of the movie is trying to convey.

 - What connotations do these images carry? Since there aren't any bright colors, and there is an emphasized design on eyes, I am suggesting that the film is an animated horror. The "I have my eyes on you" feeling is all that I was getting. This is in the sci-fi genre, however, it isn't action packed sci-fi.

 - How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? This definitly stands out. It is the length of typical closing credits sitting at 5 minutes long. It has no vibrant colors, no action sounds, simply pictures that are boring... yet grasping me to watch longer.

 - What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? The music in the background is a great strategy that I noticed the author used. It can target all children in a holloween mood. During that seasons, people love to watch dark scary movies, and this fits perfectly.

 - How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques. This is an animated film, so there aren't any effective use of camera angles, however crisp transitions and editing techniques play a big role. Each transitions goes along with the background sound, and they are about 3' seconds apart.
